How to Create Products and Services in WHMCS

If you're running a web hosting business or offering other services through WHMCS (Web Host Manager Complete Solution), setting up your products and services is a crucial step. WHMCS provides a comprehensive platform for automating billing, provisioning, and client management. In this blog post, we'll walk you through the process of creating products and services in WHMCS, enabling you to effectively showcase and sell your offerings.

Step 1: Accessing the WHMCS Admin Area:

To begin, log in to the WHMCS admin area using your administrator credentials. This area serves as the control panel for managing your WHMCS installation.

Step 2: Navigating to the Products/Services Configuration:

Once logged in, locate the "Setup" tab in the top navigation menu. Hover over it, and a drop-down menu will appear. From the drop-down menu, select "Products/Services" followed by "Products/Services."

Step 3: Adding a New Group:

Before creating individual products or services, it's recommended to set up product groups to organize your offerings. Click on the "Create a New Group" button, and enter a name for the group. For example, you can create groups like "Web Hosting," "Domain Registration," or "Email Services." Save the group to proceed.

Step 4: Adding a New Product/Service:

With the product group created, click on the "Create a New Product" button. This action will take you to the product/service creation page.

Step 5: Configuring Product/Service Details:

On the product/service creation page, you'll find various fields to fill out. Here are some key details to configure:

  • Product Type: Choose the appropriate product type from the available options, such as "Hosting Account," "Domain," or "Add-on."

  • Product Name: Enter a name for your product or service. This should be descriptive and reflect what you're offering.

  • Group: Select the product group you created in Step 3 from the drop-down menu.

  • Pricing: Set the pricing details, including the billing cycle, setup fee (if applicable), and recurring price.

  • Module Settings: If your product/service requires integration with a specific module or control panel, such as cPanel or Plesk, configure the module settings accordingly.

  • Welcome Email: Customize the welcome email that will be sent to clients upon purchase.

  • Other Configuration Options: Explore additional configuration options, such as provisioning settings, configurable options, custom fields, etc., depending on the nature of your product or service.

Step 6: Saving and Activating the Product/Service:

Once you've filled out the necessary details, click on the "Save Changes" button at the bottom of the page. This will save your product/service configuration. After saving, you can choose to activate the product/service immediately or save it as a draft for future activation.

Step 7: Repeat for Additional Products/Services:

If you have multiple products or services to offer, repeat Steps 4 to 6 for each one. Remember to assign them to the appropriate group for better organization.

Conclusion:

By following these steps, you can easily create and configure products and services in WHMCS. Properly setting up your offerings allows you to streamline the ordering and provisioning process for your clients. Take advantage of WHMCS's extensive features to customize your products, pricing, and automation settings to align with your business requirements. With a well-organized product catalog in WHMCS, you'll be ready to showcase and sell your services efficiently, enhancing the overall client experience.
